What is a Gong Bath meditation?
When we want to clean the dirt of our physical body, we use soap and water. As for the stress which accumulates in our mind, organs and tissues, vibrations from gongs and crystal bowls have the power to cleanse us on the inside - emotionally and physiologically. There is no water involved, nor clothes removed.
How it works
Sound Therapy Gong Bath Meditations begins with a short explanation on the benefits of sound healing, followed by a breath exercise to promote the flow of energy and to create a receptive mind-body state for deep relaxation and meditation.
Participants then get comfortable either lying down (preferred) or a similar comfortable position. The gongs are then played for 30 to 60 minutes to cleanse the subconscious and awaken the practitioner to a transcendent state of awareness. You may want to bring a blanket, yoga mat and pillow.
What happens during sound therapy?
During session, we use multiple gongs, crystal and Tibetan bowls in order to bring out the full spectrum of beneficial vibrations and frequencies.
The vibration and sound frequencies deliver a " sonic massage" to the body and enable the mind to release all thoughts and tensions. As the mind opens up to vaster vistas, the body can rest.
Just as a body massage works out tight and knotted muscles, the "sonic massage" of a gong bath works out emotional issues that we need to release in order to move forward in life.
The listener only has to let go and let the sound of the gong do the work. The experience is effortless and the results profound.
What can I expect?
Once the gong playing is complete, there are a few minutes of silence. This is a time of deep relaxation and expansion, where transformation and healing occur. You may feel gently light headed. Don't panic, it's all part of the healing process! We are just not used to experience a mind with no thoughts and at rest.
This quiet time allows the listeners to receive the information that is most beneficial to them. We conclude with questions and comments which are fielded from the group.
